Troisdorf Oberlar Solar Park
Troisdorf municipal utilities continue on path to success
The municipal utilities of the town of Troisdorf had already come up with an ambitious and innovative idea in 2008. They wanted to expand their role beyond that of being 'only' an energy provider to become one of the few municipal utilities in Germany to make a major contribution to the transition to new forms of energy.
One of the existing sites was rezoned for development, a development scheme was drawn up and, at the same time, construction of a turnkey solar plant was put out to tender internationally.
The right partner was quickly found in the form of F&S solar. With several engineers and electricians, an extensive analysis and planning process began, which resulted in the finished photovoltaic plant after a smooth construction phase.
Today, everyone involved is proud of what they achieved.
The Oberlar Solar Park generates around 3,290,000 kWh of electricity a year, supplying almost 1,000 households in the region. In comparison to conventional fossil fuels, more than 2,200 tonnes of CO2 are saved every year.
