Oberlar Solar Park
The MW power plant
With an area of 8 hectares and producing 3.5 MWs, this open area system has become the biggest in North Rhine-Westphalia.
However, before it was possible to assemble the almost 20,000 modules, a remarkable process was initially set in motion. In 2008, the municipal utilities of the city of Troisdorf had an ambitious and innovative idea. They wanted not only to be a “utility”; they wanted to be one of the few municipal utilities in Germany to make a major contribution to the radical change in the energy market.
And the people responsible followed words with actions.
The land development plan was changed, a zoning scheme was drawn up and, at the same time, construction of a turnkey solar plant was put out to tender. In F&S solar concept, the right partner was found quickly.
With several engineers and electrical engineers, an extensive analysis and planning process began that led to the finished photovoltaic plant after smooth construction.
Today, everyone involved is proud of the result. The Oberlar Solar Park generates around 3,290,000 kWh of electricity a year, supplying almost 1,000 households in the region. In comparison to conventional fossil fuels, more than 2,200 tonnes of CO2 are saved every year.
That’s how to implement progressive thought!
That’s what active environmental protection looks like!
That’s how ecology and economy can be combined!
